Detective quickly ends rural Willmar pursuit Tuesday for safety

WILLMAR - A detective with the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office initiated a pursuit early Tuesday afternoon a few miles south of Kandiyohi but ended it just a few minutes later for safety concerns, according to a news release.

WILLMAR – A detective with the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office initiated a pursuit early Tuesday afternoon a few miles south of Kandiyohi but ended it just a few minutes later for safety concerns, according to a news release.

A 2011 Chevrolet Malibu was pursued starting at 1:19 p.m. on County Road 8 near 45th Avenue Southeast in rural Willmar. The car traveled about five miles south on County Road 8, reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph, before the detective stopped pursuit at 1:23 p.m.

The release did not say why the vehicle was pursued but said the incident is still under investigation. No one was injured, and no property was damaged.
