WILLMAR — Weather permitting, work is set to begin Tuesday on a road project on Kandiyohi County Road 5/15 from the County Road 5 bridge over state Highway 23 on the southwest edge of Willmar to approximately half of a mile north, the Kandiyohi County Public Works Department announced Friday.

The project, which will include new road grading and bituminous surfacing, will close the area to the traveling public. A detour will take drivers onto Highway 23 to Highway 71 and then on County Road 15 (19th Avenue Southwest).

The project is expected to wrap up in October. Hoffman Construction Company of Black River Falls, Wisconsin, is the prime contractor. The work is part of a three-phase county project which will create efficient and safer traffic flow in the area.

Drivers are asked to slow down near the construction zone for the safety of the workers.
