DFL want family leave

ST. PAUL -- Increased parental leave and sick time would be provided Minnesotans under a plan offered by Minnesota House and Senate Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party members.

ST. PAUL - Increased parental leave and sick time would be provided Minnesotans under a plan offered by Minnesota House and Senate Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party members.
The proposal would:
• Guarantee earned sick time for themselves or to care for family members.
• Establish an insurance program to provide family leave for working parents to stay with new babies, care for elderly parents or other needs.
• Increase penalties for wage theft.
• Limit last-minute calls to work for many working parents.
• Prohibit businesses from deducting credit card processing fees for tips.
“The Working Parents Act is the best way that this Legislature can have a direct impact on the lives and economic security of Minnesota families who are working hard to provide and care for themselves and their families,” House Minority Leader Paul Thissen, D-Minneapolis, said. “It’s time to update Minnesota’s workplace policies and restore balance for Minnesota parents, families and workers.”
