PARK RAPIDS - DNA on a cigarette butt has landed Duane Lampl, 24, of Park Rapids, in prison.
According to court records, in June of 2014 he burglarized a cabin on South Dinner Lake Loop, Park Rapids, taking a well pump and tank, 10 sheets of drywall, lumber and some tools and household items. He was charged after DNA on a cigarette butt left at the site was traced to him via a state database.
At the time he was a suspect in several other burglaries in the Park Rapids area.
District Judge Joe Evans last week sentenced him for felony second-degree burglary to 23 months in state prison at St. Cloud and pay a fine of $1,000 plus $210 in court fees and restitution of $3,679.
He was placed on supervised probation for 10 years.
