WILLMAR -- Doris E. Janson, 90, of Grand Rapids, Mich., formerly of Willmar, died Wednesday.

The service will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at First Evangelical Covenant Church in Grand Rapids, Mich. Burial will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, Alt & Shawmut Hills Chapel, in Grand Rapids. Memorials are preferred to Covenant World Missions of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

She was born April 12, 1916, in Willmar to Reuben and Anne (Pederson) Oman. She attended school in Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in 1934. She graduated from North Park Junior College in Chicago in 1936. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1938. She taught business classes and was the faculty secretary at North Park Junior College.

She married Carl Janson in June of 1945 in Willmar. He was a minister, and she was active in the church with him, including starting children's ministries. They lived in Yakima, Wash., then moved to Duluth in 1948. They moved to Minneapolis in 1952. They moved to Muskegon, Mich., in 1958. She was a substitute teacher for Muskegon schools and later for Chicago schools. They returned to Minneapolis and she taught at Minnehaha High School. They retired in 1981 and moved to Standale, Mich., in 1984. They moved to Covenant Village of the Great Lakes in 2005.

She taught Sunday School, was active in many church women's groups and helped support missions.

She is survived by her husband; children: Sharon Johnson of Lombard, Ill., Nancy (and Mark) Tournell of Grand Rapids, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
