LITCHFIELD -- Dorothy Anderson, 88, of Litchfield died Thursday at Meeker County Memorial Hospital.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Litchfield. Burial will be in the spring.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church. Arrangements are with the Cremation Society of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
She was born July 24, 1919, in Peterson, Minn., to Sven and Agnes Thompson. She graduated from Peterson High School in 1937 as valedictorian. She attended Winona Teachers College for two years. She taught in Waterville and Meadowlands. In 1943, she taught music in Litchfield.

She married Harvey Anderson on June 22, 1946. They lived on a farm. In 1966, she worked at Nystrom's Truck Stop as a waitress. She also went to school and graduated from St. Cloud State University, with a special learning disability degree. She was a teacher in Cedar Mills Township and then in Forest City until it closed in 1970. She taught at Eden Valley-Watkins Schools until her retirement in 1981. Harvey died in 2003. She moved to Gloria Dei, Bethany Home and Emmanuel Home.
She was a member of many church and ladies groups.
She is survived by her children: MaryJo Anderson of Richfield, Deborah (and Ken) Blasing of Atwater, and Jeffrey (and Terri) Anderson of Litchfield; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister: Margaret (and Norbert) Jensen of Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers.
