STARBUCK -- Dorothy Ruth Pederson, 79, of Starbuck died Sunday at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at East Zion Lutheran Church in Starbuck. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck and for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Arrangements are with Starbuck Funeral Home in Starbuck.
She was born March 20, 1926, in New Ulm to Edwin and Elizabeth (Schilling) Windhorn. She attended school in New Ulm and graduated in 1944. She attended Mankato State Teacher's College. She moved to Starbuck to teach in 1946. She returned to New Ulm in 1948 and taught at Mankato North Elementary School.

She married Vernon Pederson on Sept. 4, 1949. They lived in New Ulm for a year, and then moved to Starbuck. She taught first grade in Cyrus for one year. They retired from farming in 1960 and she taught for one year in Lowry. She started teaching first grade in Starbuck in 1962 and retired in 1988. They moved to Glenwood in 2001. She moved to the Minnewaska Lutheran Home in Starbuck in 2003.
Dorothy was a member of East Zion Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband; children: Barb (and Chuck) Wiener of Alexandria, Barry (and Jane) Pederson, Brent (and Sheri) Pederson, all of Willmar; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister: Delores (and George) Sturm of New Ulm.
