Heather Dougherty and Les Kallestad are engaged to be married Oct. 24 at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont.
Dougherty is the daughter of Kevin and Dawn Sandmeyer of Fairmont and the late Eugene Dougherty.
She is a 2003 graduate of Butterfield-Odin High School in Butterfield and a 2008 graduate of Bemidji State University with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. She is employed as a youth minister by University Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, N.D.
Kallestad is the son of John and Bonita Kallestad of Willmar.
He is a 2000 graduate of Willmar Senior High School. He is a 2006 graduate of Ridgewater College with a liberal arts degree and a 2008 graduate of Bemidji State University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry and biology. He is employed by the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks as a research assistant in biochemistry.
