SPICER -- Douglas James Grimm, 85, of Spicer, died Friday at Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer. Burial will be at the Spicer City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Green Lake Funeral Home in Spicer and for one hour prior to the service at the church.

He was born Dec. 1, 1920, in Hayfield to Ralph and Mabel (Distad) Grimm. He grew up in the Hayfield community, graduated from Hayfield High School in 1938 and attended Winona State College and Mankato Business School.

He married Arlys Wenzel on Feb. 22, 1941. They lived in Sausalito, Calif. They moved to Mantorville, and he worked as a surveyor for Olmsted County. They later moved to Hector where he owned and operated Hector Plumbing, Heating and Electric. He retired in 1986. They moved to Spicer in 1990.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and the Little Crow Country Club.

He is survived by his wife; children: Lowell Grimm (and Joleen Durken) of Hector, Gail (and Jerry) Johnson of Hector; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother: Jim Boe of Hayfield.

He was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law: Judy; one great-granddaughter; and one brother.
