ATWATER -- Douglas William Kingery, 56, died unexpectedly on Wednesday at his home in Atwater.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Atwater. Burial will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Atwater Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the services. There will be no reviewal.

He was born on March 3, 1950 in Windom to Kenneth and Marion (Erickson) Kingery. He grew up and attended school in St. Cloud, St. James and Atwater. In 1968 he graduated from Atwater High School, where he was named most valuable on many teams. After high school, he was a member of the Minnesota Loons Bowling Team that won the American Bowling Congress Team Event. He attended Willmar Junior College and lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He bowled in the U.S. Open twice, once his bowling partner was Dick Weber. In 1992 he won the Peterson Bowling Classic in Chicago. He was also active in golf, softball, and pool leagues.

He worked for a time with Minnesota Valley Construction and then for several years with Fingerhut in Litchfield. For more than 10 years, he managed the Atwater Bowling Center and most recently he was working at the Little Crow Golf Course in New London.

He is survived by his mother; brothers; Robert (and Lori) Kingery of Grove City, James (and Lori) Kingery of Willmar, Thomas (and Ann) Kingery of Atwater and Michael (and Christy) Kingery of Grove City. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
