After going 13-for-19 with four home runs last week, Northern State junior Justin Downes was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week in baseball.
Downes, a 2002 graduate from Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, hit all four of his home runs in last weekend's series with Southwest Minnesota State. Downes also knocked in nine runs and scored six times against the Mustangs. Downes is hitting .354 with seven home runs and 23 RBI this year.
