Duane Bluhm

PAYNESVILLE -- Duane Bluhm, 84, of Paynesville died Thursday at Merriett House assisted living in St. Cloud.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Paynesville and one hour prior to the service Saturday at church. Memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice in Willmar.

He was born July 27, 1922, in New York Mills to Edward and Martha (Zabel) Bluhm. He graduated from Paynesville High School in 1941. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and was discharged in 1945.
He married Helen Kreuzberger on June 30, 1945. They bought the Paynesville Dry Cleaning plant in 1946 and operated it for 13 years. While still operating the dry cleaning plant, he became a substitute mail carrier. He became a full-time mail carrier in 1960 after he sold the dry cleaning plant. They wintered for 25 years in the Mesa, Ariz., area.
They were involved in the Senior Center in Paynesville. He was a member of the Paynesville American Legion for more than 60 years and the Paynesville Lodge 127. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville and served in many positions, and he was on the Paynesville cemetery board.
He is survived by his wife; daughters: Wendy (and Gordon) Keller of Willmar, Linda (and Ben) Theisen of Sartell; son: Randy (and Kim) Bluhm of Red Wing; six grandchildren; three great-children; and one brother: Leland (and Donna) of Union City, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debie, and one brother.
