DULUTH - Duluth city council president Emily Larson was the top vote-getter among a crowded field of Duluth mayoral hopefuls Tuesday night and will advance to November’s general election. It appeared that businessman and boxing promoter Chuck Horton was likely to be her challenger on Nov. 3.
According to the city of Duluth's unofficial tally of results, with all precincts reporting, Larson was the top vote-getter with 5,456 votes. Horton was in second place with 1,505 votes. They were among eight candidates vying to lead the city.
The top two vote-getters will advance to the general election Nov. 3, with the winner of that election replacing outgoing Mayor Don Ness.
