LITCHFIELD -- Jayson Ray Hamilton, 21, of Eden Valley, was arrested by the Meeker County Sheriff's Office Friday after fleeing police on foot, stealing a vehicle, fleeing in the vehicle and driving through flashing railroad cross arms.
According to a news release from the Meeker County Sheriff's Office, the Eden Valley Police Department requested assistance from the Sheriff's Department around 10:45 a.m. with a domestic assault, from which the male suspect, Hamilton, fled on foot. During the search for Hamilton, officers were notified that a pickup had been stolen and that he may be trying to cash a paycheck in Paynesville. The Paynesville Police and Stearns County Sheriff's Office were notified and located the stolen vehicle and suspect. Meeker County Sheriff's officials followed the pickup on state Highway 55 into Eden Valley, where the driver crossed through flashing railroad cross arms on County Road 8. The pursuit ended when the vehicle stopped in Eden Valley.
Hamilton was arrested for domestic assault, motor vehicle theft, felony fleeing a peace officer, driving while impaired, driving after revocation, railroad cross arm violation and reckless driving. He is being held on those charges pending a formal complaint from the Meeker County Attorney's Office.
