WILLMAR -- Edith Sowers, 75, of Willmar died Sunday at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in St. James.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
She was born Sept. 14, 1931, in Luck, Wis., to Peter and Ruth (Somers) Christensen. Her mother died when she was six months old and she was raised by Margrethe and Mikkel Mikkelsen. Her family moved to St. James when she was 3 and she stayed with the Mikkelsen's during the summer. She moved to St. James when she was 5 and spent summers in Luck, Wis. She graduated from St. James High School in 1950.

She married Donald Sowers on June 9, 1951, in St. James. They farmed near St. James for several years and then moved to Willmar, where they farmed. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Willmar.
She is survived by her children: Julie (and Ted) Caine of Osprey, Fla., Jana (and Mark) Noack of Bloomington, Dale (and Anne) Sowers of North Richland Hills, Texas, David Sowers of Hutchinson, Dean (and Darla) Sowers of Willmar; seven grandchildren; and her siblings: Pete (and Betty) Christensen, Joyce Sternberg, all of St. James, Dick (and Ramona) Christensen of Willmar, and Jean (and Clyde) Knudson of Kimberling City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003; one brother and one half sister.
