Christmas time 2007 has arrived in west central Minnesota. Snow came in plenty of time, the temperatures are not at sub-Arctic levels and families are gathering to celebrate this holy time.
Around the world the Christmas season celebrates the birth of Jesus. It is a good time to remember the true meaning of Christmas.
Some individuals are getting angry because others don't greet them with "Merry Christmas" or stop shopping at stores because a clerk didn't say "Merry Christmas." Demanding that you be greeted with "Merry Christmas" is not being very polite in our minds.
We wonder "What would Jesus say?" when greeted with a "Happy Holidays"? We doubt he would be offended.
Christmas is a time of giving as God gave his son to this world. It is a time to celebrate God's gift.

It is a time to remember those who aren't as fortunate as us and help others in need. We encourage your to consider these local charities -- Warm the Children, The Salvation Army, the United Way or your local food shelf. They are all worthy programs.
Christmas is time for family and traditions. With each family, it is those unique family traditions that make the Christmas holiday. It is a time of celebration, giving and love, just as God's gift and love brought us the birth of Jesus.
From our West Central Tribune family to your family, we wish you a Merry Christmas!
