WILLMAR — The Willmar School Board will meet in regular session at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the boardroom on the first floor of the Willmar Education and Arts Center. The board meets on Tuesday because of the Veterans Day holiday Monday.
The board is expected to consider seeking requests for proposal from construction management firms for a potential addition to Willmar Middle School.
Willmar Public Schools and the Southwest West Central Service Cooperative began talking last summer about working together on a building addition to meet both organizations’ needs.
The school district wants to add gym space and an area for an alternative learning center for middle school-aged children. The cooperative plans to develop a new facility for special education students.
The board on Tuesday is also expected to discuss a 2018-19 status report from Community Education Director Scott Wallner. He has led the department since last summer when the city and school district ended their partnership to operate community education and recreation together.
The board opens the meeting for comments from the public twice during each meeting — early in the meeting for comments related to agenda items and at the end of the meeting for comments not related to agenda items. Sign-up cards are available at the meeting.
