WILLMAR — Willmar School Board has set a special election for April 13 to fill a vacant seat on the board.
Former board member Michael O’Brien was elected to the Willmar City Council in the November election. A special election is required to fill the remaining two years of his unexpired term.
Candidates may file beginning Jan. 27 at the district office at the Willmar Education and Arts Center. Filing closes at 4 p.m. Feb. 10. Filing fee is $2.
The board voted to appoint former board member Laura Warne as an interim board member to serve until the special election. The appointment is also required in state law.
Superintendent Jeff Holm said schools will return to hybrid learning Jan. 19, as the district had planned.
The board also approved a new three-year contract for Holm, who thanked board members for their support.
