BELGRADE -- Edward Conrad Uphus, 81, of Belgrade died Monday at Belgrade Nursing Home.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Belgrade. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade, with a 5:30 p.m. Christian Mothers Rosary, a 7 p.m. Moose Lodge service, a 7:15 p.m. K.C. Rosary, a 7:30 p.m. parish prayer service, and will continue Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
He was born June 6, 1924, near Greenwald to John and Mary (Brus) Uphus. He grew up on the family farm and attended grade school at St. Andrew's Catholic School.

He married Verena Leukam on Sept. 9, 1947, in Meire Grove. They lived on the family farm for five years and then moved to Lake Henry and Minneapolis for a short time. They returned to the area in 1974 and he farmed near Belgrade and worked as a salesmen for McNess Feed Company. He retired in 1991 and they moved into Belgrade.
He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, served as an usher and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the Moose Lodge of Waite Park and the Belgrade Senior Citizens.
He is survived by his wife; siblings: Irene (and Dillo) Leukam of Sauk Centre, Francis (and Marylin) Uphus of Greenwald; and one stepbrother: Kenneth Loxtercamp of Waconia.
He was preceded in death by an infant child; one brother and three sisters.
