BIRD ISLAND -- Edward George Weis, 95, of Bird Island died Sunday at Olivia Healthcare Center.
The service will be at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bird Island. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Bird Island. Memorials preferred to St. Mary's or Renville County Hospice.

He was born March 9, 1910, in rural Bird Island to Henry and Catherine (Brunner) Weis. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School.
He married Ann Maurer on Jan. 31, 1933. They lived and farmed in rural Bird Island. He retired and worked for Griffith Construction.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Aid.
He is survived by his daughter: Darlene Squibb of Bird Island; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and siblings: Catherine Miller of Olivia, Helen Visser of New Hope, Cecelia Smith of Bird Island, Phyllis Graves of Burnsville and Adrian (Germaine) Weis of Bird Island.
He was preceded in death by his wife; son: Ed Jr.; son-in-law: Doug Squibb; one grandson; five sisters and three brothers.
