DANUBE -- Edward M. Folkerts, 93, of Danube died Saturday at Renville Health Services in Renville.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Danube. Burial will be at the St. Matthew's South Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Olivia and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
He was born Jan. 28, 1913, on the family farm in Winfield Township, rural Danube, to William and Rachel (Fuhrman) Folkerts. He attended District 106 country school and then helped his family with farming. He later took over the farm.

He married Marcella Thoenebe on Oct. 14, 1943, in Danube. He retired from farming in 1966 and worked various jobs in the area. They moved to Danube in 1973. Marcella died in 1985.
He married Lucille Keehl on Jan. 8, 1994. Lucille died in 2002. He moved to Renville Health Services five years ago.
He is survived by his children: Judy (and Keith) Miller of Forest Hill, Texas, Ron (and Jean) Folkerts of Casa Grande, Ariz., Russ Folkerts of Bemidji, Jane (and Les) Riederer of Bird Island; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepsons: Gary (and Linda) Keehl of Renville, Quentin (and Debbie) Keehl of Renville; three stepgrandchildren and six stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his two wives; four brothers and five sisters.
