Edwin L. Canaday

REDWOOD FALLS -- Edwin Lloyd Canaday, 93, of rural Redwood Falls died Friday at the Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls.
The service will be at 2 p.m. July 12 at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Chapel in Redwood Falls.
Arrangements are by Nelson-Martin Funeral Service of Redwood Falls. Memorials are preferred to Alzheimer's research or to the Experimental Aircraft Association.

He was born July 29, 1914, in Chadron, Neb., to Raymond and Emma (Wood) Canaday. The family moved several times, and he attended schools in Nebraska, Wyoming, California and Iowa.
He married Lois Kirkpatrick on Jan. 29, 1936, in Elk Point, S.D. They lived in Nebraska for a time and then in Sioux City, Iowa. They lived in several places, including LeMars and Sheldon, Iowa. Then they moved during World War II to Seattle, Wash., where they worked in the defense plant. After the war, they returned to Iowa. In 1949 they moved to a farm near Redwood Falls. He was a farmer and a self-employed mechanic. He also was a small aircraft pilot and licensed aircraft inspector.
He was a stock car racer, a life member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and a member of the Racing and Engine Mechanics Association.
He is survived by his wife, of Parkview Home in Belview; daughters: Elaine (and Lester) Wille of Good Springs, Nev., Geri (and John) McPherson of Randolph, Kan., and Barb (and Bud) Robertson of Renville; son: Mike (and Brenda) Canaday of Redwood Falls; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister: Lila (and Ken) Masden of Grand Island, Neb.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, a great-grandson, a brother and four sisters.
