KERKHOVEN -- Edwin "Ed" Skogstoe, 89, of Kerkhoven died Wednesday at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Kerkhoven Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Kerkhoven.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Kerkhoven and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

He was born Aug. 2, 1918, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, to Martin and Susanna (Staurland) Skogstoe. They moved to Kerkhoven. He attended country school District 79 in rural Kerkhoven. He worked on the family farm in Kerkhoven.

He married Adeline Njos on Oct. 18, 1946, in Sunburg. They farmed in the Murdock area and in 1951 moved to a farm southwest of Sunburg. They moved to Kerkhoven in 1966, and he began working for the Swift County Highway Department. He farmed for 20 years and worked for the highway department for 17 years, retiring in 1983.

He was a member of Monson Lake Lutheran Church, where he served as trustee. He was a member of Kerkhoven Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Willmar Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2334.

He is survived by his wife; daughters: Trudy (and Bruce) Roever of Frisco, Texas, JoAnn (and Daniel) Crawley of Oceanside, Calif.; and a son: John (and Susan) Skogstoe of Norfolk, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and three sisters: Pauline Dunlavy of Coleraine, Fern Hjelle of Willmar and Edna Kallevig of Willmar.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
