Eight injured in Sunday crash north of New London

The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash that injured eight people Sunday night. The names of the victims will be released later today.

NEW LONDON — Eight people, including two young children, were injured in a two-vehicle crash late Sunday afternoon north of New London.

The incident was reported at 5:31 p.m. at the intersection of Kandiyohi County Roads 9 and 33 in Burbank Township.

According to a news release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, a 2018 Honda Odyssey, driven by a 36-year-old woman from White Bear Lake, was driving east on County Road 33 and failed to stop at the intersection and struck a 2014 Ford Expedition, driven by a 63-year-old man from Willmar, that was going south on County Road 9.

The woman and three passengers, a 32-year-old, a 3-year-old and a 2-year-old, all from White Bear Lake, were injured and taken to an area hospital.

The driver of the Expedition and three passengers, who were all from Willmar and range in age from 53-59, were also injured and taken to area hospitals.

The accident is under investigation by the sheriff’s office, which said it will release the names of those involved later Monday.

The New London Fire Department, New London Ambulance, Kandiyohi County Rescue Squad, Contracare Ambulance, Life Link Air Ambulance and the Willmar Police Department assisted at the scene.
