Elda M. Gades

CYRUS -- Elda Mae Gades, 54, of Cyrus died Sunday at her home after a battle with cancer.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Burial will be at Summit Cemetery in Morris.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service today at the church. Arrangements are with Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris.

She was born June 8, 1952, in Fergus Falls to Marvin and Esmer (Haarstick) Gillaspey. She grew up in the Fergus Falls area and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1970. She attended Alexandria Technical College for one year.
She married Dwight Gades on July 22, 1972, in Fergus Falls. They lived in Texas for a short time and then moved to the Cyrus area. She worked for the Cyrus Public Schools for a number of years and then worked with Dwight in their painting and decorating business for 10 years. She then worked for Prairie Community Services for 10 years until her declining health prevented her working.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Morris, where she had been active in the Women of Faith groups.
She is survived by her husband; children: Denise (and Mike) Dougherty of Glenwood, Matthew (and Carly) Gades of Kerkhoven, Rachael Gades of Cyrus; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and three siblings: Marlyn (and Inez) Gillaspey of Maple Grove, Mark (and Brenda) Gillaspey of Belle Plaine and Violet (and Tom) Cournia of Moorhead.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant grandsons.
