Eldon R. Hoglund

ST. CLOUD -- Eldon R. Hoglund, 73, of St. Cloud, formerly of Willmar, died Saturday at the St. Cloud Hospital.
The service is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Community Church in St. Cloud. Burial is in North Star Cemetery in St. Cloud.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Benson Funeral Home in St. Cloud and for one hour before the service Tuesday at the church.

He was born June 15, 1934, on the family farm in Long Prairie to Robert and Gladys (Gustafson) Hoglund. He attended grade school at the Gutches Grove country school and graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 in Germany. In 1960 he graduated from St. Cloud State University with a bachelor's degree in education.
On Aug. 6, 1960, he married Ardis Winkelman in Long Prairie. He taught high school social studies and driver's education for several years in Cass Lake, Mountain Lake and then in Willmar for 30 years, retiring in 1996. He and his wife moved to St. Cloud in 1998. After his retirement he worked at Stearns Bank.
He was a member of the Minnesota Education Association; the Minnesota Driver Education Association; First Baptist Church in Willmar, where he served as financial secretary; and Calvary Community Church in St. Cloud. He volunteered at the VA Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife; sons: Tim (and Ronna) of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Steve (and Rebecca) of Minneapolis; daughter: Diane (and Eric) Peters of St. Peter; eight grandchildren; two brothers: Harold Hoglund and Kenneth Hoglund; and two sisters: Lillian Bjorklund and Ruth Peterson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
