LITCHFIELD -- The Litchfield Fire Department and the Department of Natural Resources were called around 1:30 p.m. Thursday to contain a controlled burn that started an electrical pole on fire.
According to Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin, Logan Pautzke, 26, of Litchfield reported he was burning a 20-acre section of wetlands when the pole caught on fire. The fire department put out the fire on the pole, which sustained $3,000 to $4,000 in damage.
The fire was a controlled burn and there was a permit issued by the DNR to burn the 20-acre section in the northwest corner the intersection of 230th Street and State Highway 22, which is just south of Litchfield.
