GRANITE FALLS -- Elik Y. Smith, 92, of Granite Falls died March 22.
The service was March 24 at Minneapolis Jewish Cemetery Chapel.
Arrangements were with Hodroff-Epstein Memorial Chapel in Minneapolis. Memorials are preferred to donor's choice.
He was born Jan. 26, 1914, in Granite Falls to Max and Molly Smith. He grew up in Granite Falls and graduated from Granite Falls High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific.

He married Edith Stern on Aug. 24, 1941, in St. Paul. They lived in Granite Falls. He was part owner, with his brothers, of Smith Brothers Auto Parts in Granite Falls. He retired in 2002.
He was a member of the Granite Falls V.F.W. and served on the Granite Falls Hospital Board for many years. He received the Citizen of the Year Award from the Granite Falls Chamber of Commerce and was an active member of the DFL.
He is survived by his wife; daughters: Nadine Plowman of Eagan, Ellen (and Tom) Jackson of Carol Stream, Ill.; five grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister: Dorothy Stern of Wabasha.
He was preceded in death by one son: William; son-in-law: George Plowman; and four siblings.
