NEW LONDON -- Elmer C. Olson, 89, of Oakdale, formerly of New London, died Tuesday at his home in Oakdale.
The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home in New London. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in New London.
Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
He was born Nov. 9, 1917, in Thief River Falls to Emil and Carrie (Erickson) Olson. He attended elementary school in New London and graduated from New London High School in 1935.

He married Ruby Johnson on Aug. 31, 1940. They moved to Oakdale in 1961. He worked as a carpenter and then worked as a business agent for the Carpentry Union. He retired in 1987.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Peace in Oakdale. He was a 50-year member of the Carpenters Union.
He is survived by his wife; children: Arlene (and David) Espelien of Oakdale, Barbara (and Ray) Skurka of Rhode Island, Cheryl Olson of Maplewood, Dennis Olson of New London; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one sister: Verna Tomervik of New London.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
