CLARKFIELD -- Elsie M. Halverson, 98, of Clarkfield, died Thursday at Clarkfield Care Center.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are with Lynner Funeral Home of Clarkfield.
She was born April 19, 1908, in Hampton to Ernest George and Hattie Luella (McMullen) Toombs. The family moved to the Dawson area when she was a small child. She worked as a nanny in Minneapolis before moving to Clarkfield. She married Gerhard "Abie" Halvorson on Oct. 9, 1941. She worked a many jobs in Clarkfield. She moved to the Valhalla Apartments in 1974 and to Clarkfield Care Center in November 2004.

She was a member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church and the ladies aid.
She is survived by two nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974; two brothers: Raymond and Clayton; and three sisters: Bessie Wolford, Stella Ellefson and Luella Marie Toombs.
