RENVILLE -- Elva Grabow Rice, 98, of Renville died Wednesday at the Granite Falls Hospital.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. John's Lutheran Church in Renville. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville and will continue for one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
She was born March 26, 1909, in Wayburn, Canada, to Edward and Hannah (Fogelquist) Schoening. They moved back to Minnesota settling south of Danube. She attended country school District 22 in Flora Township. She later graduated from Renville Public School.

She married Clarence Grabow in 1929. They lived on a farm north of Renville and later moved to the home place south of Renville. They had three children. Clarence died in 1944.
She married George Rice in 1950. He died in 2005.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Renville; where she was in the ladies aide and the OWLS organization. She was also a member of the Lawrence Welk Club and the Senior Citizens Club of Renville.
She is survived by her son: Gale (and Joyce) Grabow of Burnsville; daughter: Janice (and Charles) Thang of Edina; her daughter-in-law: Darlyce Grabow of Longmont, Colo.; her stepchildren: Joyce (and Warren) Carlson of Hopkins, Shirley (and Don) Hegg of Bloomington, and Kenneth (and Jane) Rice of Sacred Heart; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; her son, Elwood; a sister; a brother; her daughter-in-law: Jackie; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
