HACKENSACK -- Elveira C. "Vi" Kenning, 93, of Hackensack, formerly of Bird Island, died Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Brainerd.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bird Island. Burial is in the Bird Island City Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Bird Island and will continue for one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
She was born March 30, 1914, in Osceola Township, rural Bird Island, to John and Anna (Allisch) Maresch. She grew up and attended country school in Osceola Township.

She married Milton Kenning Sept. 23, 1936, in Bird Island. They lived and farmed in Osceola Township for many years. She moved to Hutchinson. In 1989, she moved to Hackensack to be near her daughter.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the senior citizens and Birchwood Circle; all in Hackensack.
She is survived by her two children: Gary Kenning of Hackensack and Linda (and Larry) Olson of Backus.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975, and four brothers and one sister.
