WILLMAR -- Elwin Charles 'Al' Yule, 91, of Willmar died Monday at Rice Care Center.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Pennock. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials preferred to Mamrelund Lutheran Church or Willmar Civic Scholarship Association.

He was born Nov. 17, 1916, in Ray, N.D., to George and Lena (Loen) Yule. He grew up in the Ray area and graduated in 1934 from Fargo High School. He worked at Scherling Studio in Fargo and later moved to New Hampton, Iowa, where he owned Yule Photography Studio.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a lithographer in Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.

He married Frances Berglund on Sept. 5, 1953, in Pennock. He worked for Twin Cylinder Oil and Minnesota Electric Supply. He retired in 1988.

He was a member of Mamrelund Lutheran Church where he served on the church council, ushered, was active with the brotherhood and was a Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Willmar American Legion Post 167 and Civil Defense.

He is survived by his wife; children: Gary (and Debbie) Yule, Deb Zinda (and Dan) Hanson, all of Willmar, and Paul Yule (and Sue Dearholt) of Bemidji; seven grandchildren; and a sister: Marcy Melberg of Bemidji.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
