WILLMAR -- Emma Marie "Granny" Hartzburg, 104, of Willmar died Saturday at Bethesda Heritage Center in Willmar.

The service will be at 10 a.m. today at Bethesda Heritage Center. Burial will be in Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery in Westphalia, Ind.

Arrangements are by Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

She was born Jan. 8, 1904, in Westphalia to Sam and Della (Spangler) Wehmeier. She attended school in Westphalia.

She married Walter Hartzburg on Jan. 19, 1924. While living in Indiana, she worked as a midwife and during World War II worked in an aircraft factory. She also worked at J.C. Penney in Martinsville and was the assistant postmaster in Westphalia. Walter died in 1962. In 1968, she moved to Willmar to be near her son and family. She worked at Jennie-O Foods until retiring at 80 years old.

In Westphalia, she was a member of Salem United Church of Christ and participated in Bible studies, ladies aid and choir.

She is survived by her daughter in law: Doris Hartzburg of Willmar; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son: Robert; daughter: Lois; two great-granddaughters; and four sisters.
