Jen Lauer and Mike Assenmacher, both of Watkins, are engaged to be married Oct. 18 in Dubuque, Iowa.
Lauer is the daughter of Becky Lauer of Willmar and the late Roger Lauer.
She graduated in 2000 from BOLD High School in Olivia and from Ridgewater College in Willmar in 2001. She earned a bachelor's degree from St. Cloud State University in 2004. She is employed as program director by Dungarvin in Watkins.
Assenmacher is the son of Dale and Mary Assenmacher of Preston, Iowa.
He graduated in 2000 from Preston High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from St. Cloud State University in 2004 and now is pursuing his master's degree there. He is employed as a wildlife biologist by the United States Geological Survey.
