DANUBE -- Ervin Julius Freitag, 87, of Danube died Monday at Golden Living Center in Olivia.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Renville. Burial will be at the Morton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Renville and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
He was born Oct. 13, 1919, in Morgan to Clarence and Ella (Zamzow) Freitag. He grew up and attended country school in the Morgan area.

He married Althea Roush on Feb. 23, 1948. They lived in the Morton, Franklin, and Olivia areas. They moved to their farm south of Danube in 1989.
He is survived by his wife; children: Roger (and Margie) Freitag of Renville, Bev Halvorson of Morgan, Rhonda Freitag of Redwood Falls; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Sylvester (and Ruth) Freitag of Franklin, Florence Helenbolt of Park Rapids, Delores Miller of South Dakota, and Lavonne Christnagel of Mankato.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
