Esther D. Schwartz

DAWSON -- Esther Dagny Schwartz, 90, of Dawson, formerly of Appleton, died Wednesday at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. Burial will be at the Appleton City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Zniewski Funeral Home-Vaala Chapel in Appleton and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

She was born Jan. 13, 1918, in Herbert Township, Swift County, to Peter O. and Thea (Tofte) Bakken. She attended rural District 65 and graduated in 1937 from Appleton High School.
She married Edgar C. Schwartz on June 24, 1944. She worked at Doege's Bakery and as a waitress for many years. From 1964 to 1983, they operated the dry-cleaning business in Appleton where she also did seamstress work. She worked at the Home-to-Home store. She also served as a caregiver to many family members and friends. In her later years she did building cleaning for ADM Edible Beans Specialties Inc.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was in her circle group, the quilters club, and worked at the church fair stand. She also did church office work.
She is survived by her daughter: Gail (and Keith) Nelson of Dawson; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and two sisters: Myrtle Bakken and Bernice Lundemo, both of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 25, 1994, a sister and three brothers.
