WILLMAR -- Esther Josephine Johnson, 93, of Willmar died Thursday at Infinia Health Care Center in Willmar.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Assembly of God Church in Willmar. Burial will be at Lundby Cemetery in rural Pennock.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

She was born June 28, 1913, in Minneapolis to James and Agnes (Schulstad) Abrahamson. The family moved to Nevis when she was 5. She grew up in Nevis and graduated from Nevis High School in 1930. She attended normal training in Park Rapids and received a degree in teaching. She taught in country schools in northern Minnesota.

She married Chester Johnson on Nov. 25, 1939, in Webster, S.D. They lived and farmed in the Sunburg area. She taught in country schools in Kandiyohi County, mostly in District 802. She retired from teaching in 1971 and then worked for the state hospital in Willmar for five years.

She was a member of the Willmar Assemblies of God, where she was active as secretary of Women's Ministries, Senior Adult Ministries, and in a quilting group. She volunteered at the Bibles for Missions Thrift Center. As a youth she was active with 4-H.

She is survived by her children: Marit (and Donald) Nelson of Willmar, Roger C. (and Lisa) Johnson of Fountain Hills, Ariz., Elvern (and Cindy) Johnson of Longmont, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
