ST. CLOUD -- EvaLee Wallace, 80, of Kerkhoven died Sunday at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud.

The service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Evangelical Free Church in Kerkhoven. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Kerkhoven.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Harvey Anderson Kerkhoven Funeral Home in Kerkhoven.

She was born Sept. 19, 1927, in Kossuth County, Iowa, to Walter and Cora (Lowman) Smith. They lived by Doan Methodist Church and in the fall of 1941, the family moved to Algona, Iowa, where she graduated from high school in 1945.

She married Herbert Wallace on Sept. 9, 1945, in Hiawatha, Kan. They lived near Fenton, Iowa, and Herbert farmed with his parents until 1952 when they moved to Irvington, Iowa. In 1958, they moved to Belgrade and farmed for 10 years before moving to a farm near Kerkhoven. Herbert retired from farming in 1989 and they moved into Kerkhoven.

While living near Belgrade, EvaLee was a waitress and after moving to Kerkhoven, she worked at the elevator.

She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Kerkhoven.

She is survived by her children: Karon (and Kenneth) Gerdes of Kerkhoven and Rick (and Theresa) Wallace of Raymond; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Glenn (and Beverly) Smith of Algona, Iowa, and Walter (and Sally) Smith of Granby, Conn.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; a son: Gerald; a brother; and a sister.
