BELGRADE -- Evelyn Josephine Mayer 89, of Belgrade, died Friday at the Belgrade Nursing Home. The service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church in Belgrade. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5...

BELGRADE -- Evelyn Josephine Mayer 89, of Belgrade, died Friday at the Belgrade Nursing Home.

The service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church in Belgrade. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade, where there will be a 5:30 p.m. Christian Mothers Rosary and a 7:30 parish prayer services. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

She was born on Aug. 4, 1919 in St. Peter, to Joseph and Anna (Smrz) Bendrick. She grew up in Schofield, Wis., where she graduated from high school in 1937. On Aug. 6, 1942, she married Howard Mayer in Schofield. They moved to Belgrade shortly after their marriage where Evelyn worked as a homemaker. Howard died in 1996.

She was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church where she served in Christian Mothers and mission circle.

She is survived by her daughters: Susan (and David) Lundin of Lexington, Ky. and Jane Scherber of Sartell; six grandchildren; siblings, George (and Marge) Bendrick of DeForest, Wis., William Bendrick of Wausau, Wis., and Genevieve Burke of Delavan, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son: Jim Mayer; two brothers and one sister.
