DETROIT LAKES — The Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin preventative maintenance seal-coating on Minnesota Highway 29 between Benson and Miltona on July 20.
Motorists can expect delays on MN-29 from Oakwood Avenue in Benson to U.S. Highway 40; from Outlet Creek in Starbuck to East Branch Chippewa River north of Benson; and Douglas County Road 36 near Miltona to McKay Avenue in Alexandria.
Crews will start in the section south of Benson and work north.
A pilot car and flaggers will control traffic for daily lane closures in the areas where crews are working.
They will apply tack and rock, which will sit for one day. After about a day, another crew will come back to apply a sealing coat.

Once the seal-coat portion of the projects are completed, crews will return after a couple of weeks to paint the road stripings.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, and reminds them to slow down in the work zone and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
