Junior Achievement is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating young people about business, economics and free enterprise. It operates in the United States and 98 other countries.
Worldwide, the program reaches more than 7 million students a year and uses the services of more than 213,000 volunteers.
In the United States, Junior Achievement reaches 4 million students through 142 local offices.
Volunteers come from all walks of life. They include business people, college students and retirees.
The program was founded in Massachusetts in 1919. The first class, JA Company, was an after-school program for high school students.

In 1975, the organization began working in middle school classrooms. Since then, the activities have expanded to include both in-school and after-school programs in grades K-12.
The Willmar program will reach at least 33 classrooms this year, its second in operation.
