WILLMAR -- Kandiyohi County Commissioner Richard Falk was elected by his peers Tuesday to serve as chairman for 2010.
He takes over from Commissioner Dennis Peterson, who was chairman in 2009.
Commissioner Dean Shuck will serve as vice chairman this year.
Commissioner Richard Larson told Peterson the board owes him "a debt of gratitude for the fine things you've done."
Peterson responded that the board's ability to work together is "how we get things done."

As part of their reorganizational meeting, the County Board of Commissioners named the West Central Tribune as the official newspaper for printing legal notices and the Raymond-Prinsburg News as the secondary paper for printing the county's financial statement.
The board approved a one-year contract agreement with the county's correctional officers. The agreement calls for a zero increase in salary for the first six months and a 3 percent cost-of-living increase for the second half of the year. Employees will also take two days off without pay.
Contracts were also approved between the county attorney's office and the cities of New London, Spicer and Raymond for prosecuting misdemeanor offenses at the same rate as 2009, and a contract was signed with the state for leasing space at the courthouse for the centralized court payment system.
A 10-year agreement was signed with the city of New London to provide meter reading, billing and collection services for a portion of the Green Lake Sanitary Sewer and Water District. Spicer had been doing the job since 2000, but New London offered a more attractive bid.
Sheriff Dan Hartog informed the board of a $210,000 grant from the state Department of Public Safety to help fund the drug task force.
The commissioners also made appointments to county committees for the coming year.
