ATWATER -- Concern that a robbery was underway at the Atwater State Bank sent multiple law enforcement vehicles screaming into town early Friday morning.
The incident was a false alarm, however.
Kandiyohi County Sheriff Dan Hartog said a citizen at a neighboring business called law enforcement shortly after 8 a.m. because they were suspicious of the actions by the bank employee opening the building. Apparently, the person opening for the day was not the person who usually opens the bank, located at 222 West Atlantic Avenue.
That report launched a communications procedure between law enforcement and the bank to determine if an incident was indeed happening. The response from the bank apparently triggered the response from law enforcement who discovered that a robbery was not happening.
"There were no problems. Everything was alright," Hartog said.
