Belgrade producer elected to dairy, promotion council
ST. PAUL -- Eleven new members have been elected to the Minnesota Dairy Research and Promotion Council board. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture, which conducts and certifies agricultural promotion council elections, announced the results of the mail-in balloting.
The newly elected board members will serve two-year terms on the 22-member board, which guides the promotion council's activities and serve as advocates for Minnesota's dairy industry.
The newly elected members include Corrine Lieser of Belgrade.
Farm outlook seminar March 18 at Marshall

MARSHALL -- Agricultural experts in several fields will be featured at the 25th annual Farm Outlook Seminar on March 18 in the Conference Center Ballroom on the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University.
Scheduled to make presentations are familiar faces Jerry Gulke and Roger Wallace, along with new presenters Wayne Myers and Vincent Malanga. Their presentations will be informative and useful for those associated with agriculture as a new growing season approaches in the climate of uncertain economic times nationally.
Proceeds from the Farm Outlook Seminar go to the SMSU Foundation and provide scholarships for SMSU students.

- WILLMAR -- The U of M Extension Service and Kandiyohi County Environmental Services will conduct a seminar on the value of manure from 9 a.m. to noon March 11 at the Kandiyohi County Office Building in Willmar. Crop and livestock producers can learn about the economic value of manure and calculate the value of manure for their operation. - EAGAN -- A free agricultural education training will be offered for Minnesota producers who want to become more comfortable planning and delivering school visits and farm field trips. The training will be from 1 to 4 p.m. March 24 at the Minnesota Farm Bureau Office in Eagan. Members of Minnesota's leading commodity groups are encouraged to attend -- bring a friend or two and carpool to the training.
