PRINSBURG -- A 16-year-old Watson girl was killed early Sunday in a one-vehicle crash a few miles northwest of Prinsburg.
Megan Bothun of Watson, the driver of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was reported at 1:26 a.m. A passenger, a 16-year-old girl from Montevideo, was transported to Rice Memorial Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to a release from the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
According to the release, the vehicle was traveling westbound on County Road 80 in Holland Township when the driver lost control and ran off the road into the north ditch. The vehicle stopped about 300 feet east of County Road 7.
The Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota State Patrol are investigating the cause of the crash. The Raymond Ambulance and the Raymond Fire Department also responded to the scene.
