HECTOR – A rural Renville County business was damaged in a fire Friday afternoon.

The incident was reported at 3:24 p.m. at Schweiss Bi-Fold Doors, at 72121 470th Street, south of Hector.

According to the Renville County Sheriff’s Office, the preliminary investigation indicates there was a fire within one of the walls of the robotic welding shop that is believed to have started after a large exterior gutter was welded to the building the previous day.

It is suspected that the wall and ceiling insulation began to smolder and eventually caught fire due to the heat caused from welding the gutter to the building, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

No one was injured as a result of the fire and a damage value estimate has not yet been made.
