SUNBURG -- A heat lamp intended to warm rabbits is the suspected cause of a fire that destroyed a granary Tuesday morning at the Brent Larson residence, 18380 140th St. N.W.

The Sunburg Fire Department was called around 11:50 a.m. to the home south of Sunburg to battle the fire. The building, which contained furniture to be restored and black walnut lumber, was a total loss, according to Sunburg Fire Chief Milt Tollefson. The rabbits died in the fire.

Firefighters received mutual aid from the Kerkhoven Fire Department. The department also called in a backhoe to tear down the building, as the fire was in the roof, which was tin covering asphalt shingles. No one was injured in the blaze.
