PRINSBURG -- A house was totaled by fire Thursday in rural Prinsburg.

Prinsburg Firefighters were called to 16901 90th St. S.W. around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Prinsburg Fire Chief Bob Sportel said that he thinks the fire started in the basement, but the fire is still under investigation.

Firefighters from Prinsburg, Raymond and Blomkest fought the fire until 11:30 p.m. Thursday. The fire rekindled at 5:30 a.m. and they fought that fire until 8:30 a.m. Friday.

The fire was fought with water tankers that were filled in Prinsburg.

Weather conditions, with blowing snow and freezing temperatures made fighting the fire more difficult than usual, Sportel said.

The home is owned by James and Linda Hocum.
