GROVE CITY -- Firefighters from multiple agencies responded yesterday to a fire at a rural Grove City wood chipping business.

Fire departments from Grove City, Atwater, Litchfield and Eden Valley responded to the fire reported around 1 p.m. yesterday at D&D Ventures, located in the 56100 block of U.S. Highway 12. D&D Ventures reportedly produces wood shavings used at turkey farms.

No injuries were reported. The business owner, Dale Hoerchler, estimated that the fire caused damages between $250,000 and $300,000, according to a news release from the Meeker County Sheriff's Office.

A faulty bearing on a conveyer used to load wood shaving onto trucks reportedly started the fire in the 75-by-300 foot storage shed.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office and Grove City Rescue also responded to the fire.
